China is one of the largest auto parts producer on the globe.
Auto China 2006 scored a number of records, including the exhibition of 556 complete vehicles, 1,500 auto-parts and related products exhibitors, of which 200 came from over 20 foreign countries, such as Brazil, Italy, and Spain, and 560,000 person-visits, testifying to China's booming domestic auto market and brisk development of the increasingly competitive auto-parts industry. Industry insiders estimate that total auto sales in China will hit seven million vehicles in 2006, up 1.3 million over the 2005 level. By 2020, China is anticipated to become the world's largest auto market. Exhibition at the China International Exhibition Center focused on car displays, including new models from most of the major foreign and domestic brands. Luxury cars from Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati were also on display, attracting huge crowds of spectators. The 35,000 square meters of exhibition space at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center accommodated nearly 1,000 exhibitors. About 600 came from Zhejiang Province, testifying to the central position of Zhejiang in China's auto-parts industry.
